Gorgeous October Homespun Wedding | Napa Valley Floral Design

Last October, my very last wedding of the season was on 10/10/10. It was a very special wedding, a very specail day…for a few reasons. First the date of 10/10/10 was sort of fun in itself, (and probably has some special significace if you are in to numerology or something—I have no idea), but it was also my last wedding of the season, and sort of my ‘swan song’ since I was not planning on doing any more events for a while due to the recent birth of my second child and other factors in my life. So, I was sort of filled with a strange mix of sadness and joy that hot day in October, as my crew and I rushed around the Bride’s Mom’s house in the heart of Napa, setting out table arrangements, hanging a gorgeous wreath above the front entry, and delivering the personal flowers to the glowing Bride. I was so in love with this wedding (the colors, the texture, the total whimsy, the personal touches) and the couple (happy, in love, friendly, willing to do something ‘different’, great senses of humor—my DREAM couple!) and I was just sad that this was going to be my last wedding till who knew when. But it was a great one to go out on, I tell you. For a fairly big wedding, it truly felt intimate and homey, and surrounded by love. There were children running everywhere underfoot, and the hosts were treating everyone (vendors included) like guests and family. I could not have been more proud than when I delivered the Bride’s very unusual Bridal Bouquet (unlike any other I’ve ever done—but hey, she told me “Snapdragons. Go wild”) and she almost burst into tears and giggles at the same time.

After the ceremony with the vineyard backdrop, the guests enjoyed cocktails on the covered porch and around the gorgeous property, then moved by shuttle up to the magnificent Christian Brothers Retreat for a more formal dinner and dancing into the night.

As an aside, when I got home from that wedding, exhausted, but happy, my baby daughter Sofia (who turned 6 months that very day) decided to start crawling. The timing was perfect.
